March 28: Mastering AWS Dual Availability Zones with Rob Martin

Robert Martin, who hails from Raleigh, NC and is Director of Sponsorships at our sister chapter, is coming up to Northern VIrginia to teach a one-day, 6-hour seminar on setting up your AWS cloud services to function on two availability zones.  This provides instant redundancy in case one of Amazon’s zones goes down.  Many companies were caught by surprise when an AWS system breakdown last year resulted in interruption of service.  AWS does not set up multiple availability zone services automatically.  You need to do it yourself and Robert will show you how.

The goal of Robert’s seminar is to help folks design and build an AWS environment with dual Availability Zones. They will set up NAT and deploy a Linux AMI. They will remote into the Linux AMI to practice some Linux commands. We also cover IAM and S3. He covers subnetting for the first 45 mins of the training sessions, so don’t shy away if CIDR is something you associate with apples, not Apples.
