Frank Gearhart is conducting research on how well machine learning can generate explanations for use by cybersecurity professionals. He is recruiting individuals who meet all of these criteria:
- Work in a position where your primary duties include cybersecurity activities.
- Are age 18 or older.
If you decide to participate in this study, you will be asked to do the following activities:
- Complete an online survey for 8 minutes.
During these activities, you will be asked questions about:
- Your level of cybersecurity experience, any academic degrees you hold, and any cybersecurity certifications you hold.
- How well a machine learning-generated explanation about a malware detection event meets the four National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Four Principles of Explainable AI.
- Your professional opinion regarding the explanations presented in the survey.
