Abstract: Join us for a panel discussion on Cloud Security Fundamentals with experts from Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), IBM, Microsoft, and MITRE.

About the Speakers: Our Panel moderator Dr. Mari Spina joined MITRE in 2014 and has been supporting a multitude of MITRE Federal sponsors including DHS, DoD and the IC in the area of Cloud Security. At MITRE, she is a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer, leads the Cloud Security Capability Area, and teaches Cloud Security for the MITRE Institute. She has also taught many Information Technology courses for the George Washington University schools of engineering and business. Before joining MITRE, she worked for government engineering firms including Hughes Aircraft, SAIC, ManTech, NJVC, and DMI since 1988 where she provided IT systems engineering to a variety of Federal agency missions including those of the Intelligence Community and the DoD. Mari holds a D.Sc. in Engineering Management from the George Washington University, a MSEE from the University of Southern California, and a BSME from California State University Northridge. She is also PMI PMP and ISC2 CISSP, ISSEP, CCSP certified.

Mr. Aaron Sweeney is a Principal Cloud Solutions Architect at Microsoft. He is a proven leader with over nineteen years of experience in cybersecurity architectures, enterprise & datacenter networking, DevOps automation, and Federal/DoD/IC information assurance. An evangelist of GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices to reduce silos and ensure the reliability and security of today’s highly complex environments.

Mike Walter is a Senior Security Architect for IBM Technology Public and Federal Market team. His focus is providing security strategy and planning guidance to customers. He joined IBM in 2011 as a Consulting Architect with IBM Systems World Wide Lab Services. This included work in the Executive Advisory Practice, the High Availability Center of Competence and Client Engineering, engaging with customers and speaking at conferences around the globe. Recognizing his background in security, IBM asked him to move to the Security product team in 2022. He has 45 years of leadership and management experience, the last 35 years focused on the management of services providing information delivered by technology. He has delivered presentations and conducted seminars focused on the Business of IT, including topics across the service management lifecycle, enterprise architecture, governance, risk and compliance, software quality and development lifecycle, providing advice and assistance to over 500 corporations and public sector entities. Heled large teams of staff located in multiple sites and has developed policy and process at the national level, combining technical components to facilitate the adoption of process improvements with the organizational cultural changes required for acceptance. Mr. Mike Walter has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Master of Public Administration degree from Florida International University. He is a retired US Coast Guard Officer and credentialed Intelligence Officer. His last tour of duty was CTO and CSO of a multi-agency intelligence center.
