Their commitment to cultivate, grow, and inspire mentors and mentees domestically and internationally, involving academia, governments, non-profits, and private industry is outstanding. Their growth to date is nothing short of astounding. Meet the leaders from the National Capital region, whom are putting the movement’s strategy design into motion across the globe. They will share the program details, benefits, and most importantly how you can become actively involved in positively changing the lives of others.

Lorena Fimbres

Lorena Fimbres serves as Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer for STEMconnector® and Million Women Mentors. She is responsible for developing new business and serving members through customized strategies and consulting. She is also responsible for the development and implementation of the STEMconnector® and the Million Women Mentors Brands. Lorena has a track record of driving projects that involve over a hundred Fortune companies and their executives. She is the publisher of STEMconnector’s 100 Leaders in STEM, which has profiled 448 executives across 282 companies/organizations.

Prior to moving to the United States, Lorena held several positions of increasing responsibility within the government of the State of Sonora, Mexico. Lorena was part of the strategy team that oversaw 101 parallel campaigns at the local and state levels (2009).

Lorena holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the internationally recognized Technologic Monterrey. A native of Sonora, Mexico, Lorena lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband Francisco and their two children Lorenza and Agustin.

Carole Cameron Inge

Carole Cameron Inge, E.D., a leading social entrepreneur and advocate for STEM education, founded IASL. She has led several major STEM organizations, to include directing the NASA Center for Distance Learning for NASA Langley Research Center. During her tenure, the NASA outreach program reached over 200,000 teachers and over 4 million children through 950 international television affiliates and online mechanisms. As part of this work, Dr. Inge designed scientifically based research projects for both NASA and Discovery Education to determine the extent of increased student achievement and career exploration in STEM areas. This work was published in the U.S. Department of Education’s “What Works” Clearinghouse.

For Virginia Polytechnic and State University, Dr. Inge designed and led a modeling and simulation center with a focus on STEM in the energy and environmental fields. She also founded and directed the National Institute for Technology Policy and Research, which focused on the use and transformation of technology in teaching and learning. In 2003, Dr. Inge help found a nationally recognized multi-million-dollar broadband company that today provides connectivity to hundreds of schools and universities throughout Virginia. She designed and led one of the first large scale two-way interactive technology projects for education in the country and she was instrumental in launching educational video on demand services in K-12 environments. Dr. Inge is considered a leader in asynchronous and synchronous education, holding a Masters and Doctorate in education technology policy from The George Washington University.

Jeanne Martin

A proven leader with a record of accomplishment for execution & building sustainable ecosystems of people, processes, & tools, Jeanne Martin is President of JMar Enterprises; founded to address the growing gap for women in STEM-related fields.  JMar provides an opportunity for business & education to come together for mutual success, through diversity & STEM-related consulting services, to develop their future employees.

With 30 years in the technology area (18 with Cisco), Jeanne has amassed a wealth of cross-functional experiences at the local, national, & global levels, spanning Sales, Distribution Channels, Governance Boards, & Diversity/Inclusion.  She’s worked in small business & Fortune 500 companies, creating value-driven models that respect the differences people bring to problem solving & driving innovation, providing full spectrum participation & collaboration across those differences, & enabling best practices for all facets of work for today’s market.  Her strength & passion are cornerstones of her success & have led to numerous awards throughout her career, including the first women to host Cisco’s global new hire Sales training along with numerous sales achievement and MVP awards.

Returning to her education roots, Jeanne brings that corporate knowledge & experience to the next generation of workers & their employers, by building local ecosystems of shared visions.  Through advising, educating, & mentoring, JMAR creates sustainable relationships that empower young women to pursue STEM careers, while providing local businesses with a larger, better-skilled talent pool to address their workforce development and business requirements.  Through these relationships, young women benefit from real world applications that STEM careers afford, increasing the number of women in STEM-related fields, filling a critical gap in the labor pool.

Jeff Terhune

Jeff Terhune is the Manager of Business Development for STEMconnector® and Million Women Mentors. In this role, he is responsible for developing new business and serving members’ STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) needs through customized strategies and consulting. Clients consist of Fortune 500 companies, universities and community colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies. Working directly for the Chief Business Development Officer, he co-manages the Million Women Mentor’s initiative, which has launched in 40 states and in multiple countries.

Jeff is the son of an Army Colonel (R) and was fortunate to live in 5 states and 2 countries before the age of 18. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors in International Affairs. He then worked for Lockheed Martin as the International Accounts Payable Accountant responsible for over $400 million a year in payments to vendors based around the world. Jeff currently lives in Washington D.C. where he has a passion for traveling, running and watching the Georgia Bulldogs win!
