STEM for Her: Funding Girls Education Initiatives for Future Success

STEM for Her is a non-profit organization that inspires and empowers girls and young women from middle school to college to change the world by excelling in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers.  Nanci Schimizzi is a board member and Director for Strategic Alliances for STEM for Her and a STEM Outreach chair for SIM (Society for Information Management). Nanci will cite research from SIM’s 2016 IT Trends Survey which supports the business need for critical STEM skills in the workplace and will also discuss a number of current programs that are being funded, along with the strategic direction, that the Foundation is planning to take to support our next generation.  Some of the programs include:  CyberPatriots, Girls in Technology (GIT), Techbridge Washington DC, GirlsInspired and PLEN.

Nanci Schimizzi, Founder and Senior Management Consultant of Fair Oaks Strategies, LLC which focuses on providing value added strategy and program management services to Senior IT executives. Prior to starting Fair Oaks Strategies, was Vice President at FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority). She joined the organization in February 1994 and held various positions focusing on strategy, relationship management, program management, communication, and software development.
