SEPT 30: Dave Simprini on State efforts to secure our voting systems

As the 2020 General Election draws near, states have invested in people, processes, and technology to help secure our Nation’s critical voting infrastructure. Resources including the Center for Internet Security’s Handbook for Elections Infrastructure Security, the Elections Infrastructure Assessment Tool (EIAT), as well as the Elections Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Center (EI-ISAC) are critical to this important effort.

perspective.

Mr. Simprini is a Principal who leads Grant Thornton’s Public
Sector Information Assurance and Cyber Security Practice.Mr. Simprini
has specialized experience working with State Board of Elections
officials as he served as the Principal in charge of a
first-of-its-kind comprehensive risk assessment over the critical
elections Infrastructure throughout the State of New York. This
included assessments of voting booth equipment, ballot printers,
pollbook systems, voter registration databases, as well as
election-night reporting websites. His team conducted on-site
assessments using a dual-pronged approach to perform both a governance
review of policies, procedures, and controls as specified by the CIS.
